Begin your tour by passing Merdeka Square and visiting the 132-meter tall National Monument, commonly known as Monas, featuring a golden flame that represents Indonesia’s freedom. This iconic structure highlights the country’s independence.

Next, visit Istiqlal Mosque, Southeast Asia’s largest mosque and the sixth largest in the world by capacity. It stands opposite the Jakarta Cathedral, symbolizing religious tolerance between Islam and Christianity.

The Jakarta Cathedral, built in 1891 in a Gothic architectural style, features a tall tower, colorful stained glass windows, and three semi-circular altars, including a historic old altar inside.

Explore Old Batavia’s cultural core at Fatahillah Square, surrounded by former government buildings, banks, hospitals, post offices, and courthouses now converted into museums and shops. Here, you can meet puppet masters, learn about Indonesian puppet-making, and try handling traditional puppets.

The tour concludes at Sunda Kelapa Harbor, an ancient maritime port used by early Portuguese and Dutch visitors. Passing the 17th-century Kota Intan Drawbridge, you will see traditional wooden schooners known as “pinisi” and observe dockworkers maintaining the port’s historic activity.
