Description

Your guide will pick you up from your hotel in the morning and take you to the National Museum of Indonesia, commonly called 'Museum Gajah' or 'Elephant Museum' due to the bronze elephant statue in its front yard. This statue was a gift from King Chulalongkorn (Rama V) of Thailand, who visited in 1871.

Next, you will visit Kota Tua (Old Town Batavia), which dates back to 1526. This area was renamed Jayakarta after the Demak Kingdom commander Fatahillah captured Sunda Kelapa Harbor. You will then explore Sunda Kelapa Harbor, built in 1527 during Portuguese rule, still an active port for inter-island and international shipping transporting commodities like wood and building materials.

The tour continues to Chinatown, an ethnic Chinese settlement established long before European arrival. The Chinese community was brought by the Dutch East India Company to support Batavia’s economic growth and security.

You will also visit Monas, the National Monument symbolizing Jakarta and Indonesia’s independence struggle. The tour concludes with visits to Jakarta Cathedral Church, inaugurated in 1901, and Istiqlal Mosque, located nearby.
