The tour begins at 9 am with a pickup from your location. The first stop is the National Museum (TMII), popularly known as “Gedung Gajah” or the Elephant Museum. It features a bronze elephant statue gifted by King Chulalongkorn (Rama V) of Thailand during his 1871 visit.
Next, you will visit Jakarta Old Town (Kota Tua or Oud Batavia), dating back to 1526 when the Demak Kingdom renamed the area Jayakarta. The tour continues to Sunda Kelapa Harbor, established in 1527 during Portuguese rule, serving as a historic port for shipping wood, groceries, and building materials.
The itinerary includes Chinatown, where ethnic Chinese communities have settled since before European arrival, contributing to Batavia’s economic development. Afterwards, the tour visits the National Monument (Monas), a symbol of Jakarta and Indonesian independence.
The final stops are the Cathedral Church, established in 1892 and inaugurated in 1901, and the Istiqlal Mosque.
