Description
Your tour begins with pickup from your hotel or a convenient meeting point by an English-speaking guide and licensed driver. The first stop is Taman Mini Indonesia Indah, a 150-hectare park showcasing 34 pavilions representing Indonesia’s provinces. You can explore the park on foot or by electric shuttle bus. The guide will take you through 3 to 5 key pavilions highlighting diverse cultures, traditional architecture, clothing, and crafts. A central lake represents the Indonesian archipelago’s five major islands, visible from the park’s 6th-floor viewing tower.
The park also offers several museums such as the Komodo Museum, Aviary Museum, and Batik Museum, which require an additional entrance fee. Your guide can advise on including these in your itinerary. Afterward, visit the Museum of Indonesia inside the park to see cultural relics and textiles.
Next, travel to Central Jakarta to visit a curated Batik shop, Danar Hadi, showcasing UNESCO-recognized Batik heritage. Then, visit the Monument of Indonesian Proclamation, located where the home of Indonesia’s first president, Soekarno, once stood. Follow the path of independence with a visit to the museum housed in the former residence of Japanese Navy Admiral Tadashi Maeda, where the Indonesian Formulation Text was drafted.
The tour continues with a photo stop at the Grand Mosque of Istiqlal, Southeast Asia’s largest mosque with a capacity of 200,000 people. Opposite the mosque is the Our Lady/ Saint Mary the Assumption Cathedral, Jakarta’s longest Roman Catholic cathedral, historically linked to King Louis Napoleon Bonaparte.
The final highlight is a panoramic view of the National Monument (Monas) from the 24th floor of the Indonesian National Library (Perpusnas).
