Description

Start your cultural journey at the Museum Nasional Indonesia, also called the 'Elephant Museum.' This building is home to more than 140,000 artifacts, including prehistoric fossils, ancient inscriptions, Hindu-Buddhist statues, and cultural treasures from across the archipelago. It's the perfect place to learn about the long history of Indonesia's civilizations. Next, visit Glodok, Jakarta's historic Chinatown. This area is known for its lively markets, traditional medicine shops, and authentic restaurants. It also has temples and buildings that are hundreds of years old, built during the colonial era. The mix of cultures and businesses makes it one of Jakarta's most lively neighborhoods. Then, go to the Kota Intan Drawbridge, the last surviving Dutch-era drawbridge in Jakarta. It was built in the 17th century and was used to connect fortified warehouses along the Ciliwung River. If you stand here, you can learn about how important this city was during the colonial trading era. Finally, visit the Museum Fatahillah, which is located in the old Batavia city hall. Inside, you'll find old furniture, maps, ceramics, and paintings that show the history of Jakarta's colonial past. The museum is in the lively Fatahillah Square, where street performers and cafés full of history make it a charming place to end your trip.
